To present a Leopard award, regarded as the highest honour in Surrey for club bowlers. It recognises the outstanding and distinguished service in administration and other bowling duties.
Dave Popejoy has conscientiously served Purley Bury in various capacities and never seeks personal accolades for the enormous amount of time effort or work he contributes to the club.
He is regularly seen supporting other members at working parties in maintaining and doing repairs to the clubhouse and its surroundings and co-helped in a team with the mowing of the green.
One of his many attributes is his organisational skills, organising events such as varied social nights, theatre visits, Quiz nights, darts nights, the Christmas Afternoon and Evening Dinner. He is a co-member of a group who actively promoted Purley Bury Culture Club for members to meet for regularly events during the winter months.
It would be amiss if it was not mentioned that his organisational skills have raised over £17,000 for Purley Bury club funds.
He regularly plays for the club and has had success winning his borough badge, club competitions, and just missed out qualifying for his county badge in the Triples. He is also an associate member of the Surrey County Mens Past Presidents Association.
